Grants and Sponsorships

Healthcare Donations - Europe, Turkey, Middle East and Africa regions

Donations are financial support or support in kind, made by Amgen to a not-for profit organization without expectation of a Tangible Benefit in return (that is, any benefit that has a commercial value for Amgen). Donor recognition e.g. via a statement and/or Amgen logo as part of transparency requirements is not considered a Tangible Benefit to Amgen. Amgen may make only donations to Qualified Recipients to further an educational or scientific purpose.

Qualified Recipients

Qualified Recipients are not-for-profit healthcare institutions or organizations, hospitals, universities, patient organizations, professional scientific or medical societies, scientific or medical industry associations, and associations comprised of members of the healthcare community and advocacy third party organizations.

Amgen may only make Donations to Qualified Recipients for one of the following purposes:

  • The support of science, technology, medicine, healthcare, research or education
  • Education of the public on disease states, medical conditions, science, or technology

Types of Donations that could be provided to Qualified Recipients may include the following (if permitted by local law / code):

  • Support for educational activities, including, but not limited to, fellowship programs, endowed professorships, scholarships, scientific research programs and third-party medical education programs
  • Public education programs, disease awareness campaigns, patient assistance programs
  • Advancing science
  • Contributing to improvements in the quality of healthcare to directly or indirectly benefit the patient (including medical or technical equipment)
  • Support for patient organizations/patient advocacy programs
  • Other giving or funding to support programs and initiatives consistent with the purposes set forth above, subject to applicable laws and/or code requirements.

Please note:

  • Individual members of the healthcare community or for-profit organizations are NOT Qualified Recipients
  • Donations cannot be provided for sporting, leisure or entertainment activities
  • Venues must be conducive to the objective and purpose of the Event or Project
  • Details of transfers of value related to the Donation will be made available publicly and/or to local authorities for disclosure/ transparency purposes if required by applicable laws and/or code requirements and where consent has been received (if required).

Overview of Healthcare Donation Funding Application Process

Amgen is dedicated to making the application process simple and straightforward. Amgen will send an email confirmation upon receipt of your application and documentation.

Requests should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the activity start date (90 days if your activity takes place in Italy). Amgen reserves the right to deny requests not submitted in that time frame.

Healthcare Donation Application Requirements

Please send the following required information/documents (in pdf format) to Intl.Donations@amgen.com

Letter of Request containing the following:

  • Detailed activity description with a draft agenda/program
  • Activity start and end dates
  • Statement indicating how Amgen's funds will be used, should funding be awarded
  • Amount requested from Amgen
  • Full activity budget (estimate; to be used for internal compliance purposes only)
  • The name and email of the best party to reach regarding this request
  • The legal name and address of the payee/contract partner. This is needed should funding be awarded. A link to the organization’s homepage is appreciated, if available
  • Name, surname, title, phone number and e-mail address of the person who can sign the agreement on behalf of your organization. This is needed should funding be awarded.
  • Bank details. This is needed should funding be awarded.
  • Venue information (if applicable)
  • Number of confirmed (co)sponsors
  • Number of expected participants (if applicable)
  • Written confirmation of your organization’s not-for-profit status. A letter from your lawyer or tax accountant, copy of by-laws or any other official document is needed.

Patient Organizations only: In addition to the information/documents requested above please confirm that support has also been requested from other companies.

Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee you and/or your organization will receive a donation.

3rd Party Sponsorships - Europe, Intercontinental and Japan, Asia Pacific regions

3rd Party Sponsorship refers to financial support or support in kind, provided to a for-profit or not-for-profit Entity for Events or Projects in return for one or more Tangible Benefits to Amgen.

Amgen is committed to the highest level of ethical business conduct, including compliance with applicable local laws and codes, including but not limited to anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and transparency laws (as applicable) when providing Sponsorship to an Entity in return for one or more Tangible Benefits to Amgen.

Tangible Benefits

Examples of Tangible Benefits with commercial value are:

  • Rights for Amgen granted by an Entity to perform marketing or advertising of a brand/product or distribution of brand/product-related materials
  • Right to perform marketing or advertising of Amgen’s general business interests such as recruitment, disease state/awareness including the Amgen brand (e.g. prominent display of the Amgen logo and/or additional advertising)
  • Renting space for commercial or scientific booths at an Event
  • Right to free registration(s) at an Event
  • Right for Amgen to nominate a speaker/presenter
  • Right for Amgen to be provided with room and/or equipment to conduct a satellite symposium
  • Prioritization when selection of exhibit space is allocated by congress organizers
  • Amgen receives intellectual property rights as a result of the execution of the Project

Entity

Any third party e.g. including medical institutions (hospitals, universities), independent scientific or medical associations, professional scientific or medical societies, patient organizations, affiliated groups of healthcare professionals, industry associations, congress/meeting organizations or similar organizations.

Please note:

  • Sponsorship can only take place with an Entity, never with an Individual.
  • Sponsorship cannot be provided for sporting, leisure or entertainment activities.
  • Venues must be conducive to the objective and purpose of the Event or Project.
  • Details of transfers of value related to the Sponsorship will be made available publicly and/or to local authorities for disclosure/ transparency purposes if required by applicable laws and/or code requirements and where consent has been received (if required).
